AMiable Solution #245: Not Your Average Quality Checklist

Does your market see your company the way you do? You’ve stared at your logo and read your marketing collateral so many times that you think everyone must know about your company by now, right? What if they don’t? What if they see things that aren’t there or don’t see things that are? First impressions are hard to change. See why you should give your company a fresh-eyed glance

Are you nurturing the right qualities? According to Recruiter.com, which has a network of more than 3,000,000 followers, 13,000 employers, and 35,000 recruiters, successful marketing executives have seven key characteristics:

Vision. Successful marketers don’t just work for what works now; they look to the future and have a clear idea what needs to happen in order to keep their organizations successful. In addition, they can communicate this vision clearly to higher-ups, and they can inspire those below them.

Business sense. You can’t expect to grow a company if you don’t know how businesses work. Successful marketers understand this and incorporate business strategies into their marketing strategies.

Market knowledge. Marketing managers who thoroughly understand their markets can not only create successful marketing campaigns, but they can also create successful, long-term marketing strategies.

Tech knowledge. Technology continues to drive the business and the marketing world. A solid understanding of the latest technologies and their applications is important to a marketer’s success.

Customer-focused. The best marketers focus on one thing: fulfilling the customers’ needs. Those who know who the ideal customer is and how to target them will find the most success.

Company-focused. If you don’t love the organization you work for and the brands, products, or services it supports, then you may not have the passion and the commitment needed to see it succeed. Associate yourself with a company you believe in, and you’ll do well.

People-focused. Knowing the market, the company, and business isn’t enough. You must also be able to relate to other managers and business leaders. Building and maintaining business relationships is another vital aspect of a successful marketer’s job.

Do these characteristics sound like success to you? Which characteristics do you possess? Which ones would you like to improve on?
